We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our Integrated Community Forensic Learning Disability Team. As a key member of our team, you will provide specialist psychological assessments, interventions, and advice to support the care and treatment of individuals with learning disabilities and offending behaviors.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative team, contributing to the development of a stepped service offer that includes training packages, consultancy, and community-based therapeutic interventions. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary professionals to provide specialist support, guidance, and consultation on clients' psychological care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide highly specialist psychological assessments of service users, including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, and structured observations.
- Formulate and implement complex plans for formal psychological treatment and/or management of service users' mental health/developmental disability/behavioural problems/criminal offending behaviours.
- Implement a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families, and groups, drawing on different explanatory psychological models.
- Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options and any adjustment to plans, taking into account theoretical and therapeutic models.
- Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for psychological assessment, treatment, and discharge of service users, communicating with referral agents and others involved in their care.
- Provide specialist psychological advice, guidance, and consultation to colleagues, carers, and families, as well as Courts and solicitors.
- Ensure members of the clinical team have access to a psychologically based framework for understanding the care of service users through provision of advice and consultation.
- Undertake risk assessment and management of individual service users, especially in relation to offending behavior, and provide advice for other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and management.
- Communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner information concerning assessment, formulation, and treatment plans, and monitor and evaluate progress.
- Act as care co-ordinator, ensuring the provision of a care package appropriate for the service user's needs, coordinating the work of others involved with care, and communicating effectively with the service user, their family, and all others involved in the network of care.
- Be responsible for the development of a specialist area of psychological interest and service in agreement with the Consultant Psychologist and according to service priorities.
- Maintain timely and accurate record keeping in line with professional guidelines and provide reports to the Court and Mental Health Tribunals.
