A prestigious Design Firm is on the lookout for a skilled Lead Architectural Technician to become a vital part of their team, focusing on a community housing initiative. This position offers the flexibility of remote work, with the expectation of occasional site visits.

Role Responsibilities

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned Architectural Technician to join the Design Team remotely, contributing to various community housing projects. You will work closely with a Project Lead based in the city and receive operational and administrative assistance from the central office.

  • Generate technical design documentation for RIBA Work Stages 2 to 6 on both new construction and renovation projects.
  • Develop and manage 3D Revit models from initial design through to construction documentation.
  • Supervise multiple projects concurrently, including creating working drawings/specifications and reviewing/amending drafts produced by colleagues.
  • Prepare drawings for planning, building control, and construction phases.
  • Participate in client meetings, conduct site visits, and collaborate with contractors to provide necessary technical guidance.
  • Engage in technical design evaluations and mentor junior staff members.
  • Attend collaborative sessions at the regional headquarters periodically.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • At least 5 years of experience in residential/housing projects within the UK.
  • Familiarity with both traditional design and Design & Build contracts.
  • Minimum ACIAT qualification, with MCIAT preferred.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience in a design office and previous remote working experience.
  • Strong leadership capabilities to guide and mentor junior team members.
  • Excellent technical proficiency in various construction methods.
  • Thorough understanding of UK Building and Planning regulations and procedures.
  • A self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
  • A collaborative team player with a commitment to advancing projects.
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK.
