Job Overview

The Catering Supervisor will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality food services to patients and staff at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. Main Responsibilities
  • Work closely with patients and staff to ensure adequate nutrition and support.
  • Manage stock control of frozen and ambient foods to minimize waste.
  • Ensure cleaning schedules are maintained and monitored regularly.
  • Enforce personal hygiene standards and hygienic food handling practices.
  • Train staff in operational procedures and ensure they are adequately equipped to perform their duties.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
  • Induction arrangements for new staff.
  • Ensure patient food is served at the correct temperature, attractively presented, portioned correctly, and at the correct times.
  • Allocate work to optimize performance and smooth running.
  • Ensure economical use of materials and indent for repairs of faulty equipment.
  • Liaise with nursing and ward staff, catering supervisors, maintenance services, portering management, and dietician.
  • Ensure Health and Safety procedures are strictly adhered to.
Person Specification
  • Good supervisory skills to motivate and organize staff.
  • Experience of catering work and ability to manage priorities under pressure.
  • Food Safety level 2 or equivalent qualification.
