About this role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a District Officer - Environmental Crime. This is a fixed-term, part-time position for 12 months, with a competitive hourly rate of pay and generous annual leave entitlements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating and enforcing environmental crime, including fly tipping, abandoned vehicles, littering, and PSPOs. They will also assist in the management of the council's car parking assets and engage with communities and members of the public to provide education and support.

The ideal candidate will have a full driving license, good physical health, and a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key responsibilities
  • Investigate and build cases for environmental crime
  • Undertake interviews in accordance with PACE
  • Engage with communities and members of the public
  • Issue Fixed Penalty Notices and Penalty Charge Notices
  • Manage the council's car parking assets
