About the Role

Hays Specialist Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Classroom Assistant to join our team in the Education sector. As a General Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting teachers in primary schools in Tewkesbury.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare classrooms for lessons and maintain a safe and clean environment
  • Assist teachers in preparing lesson materials and school equipment
  • Record and report children's progress to teachers
  • Help children stay focused during class hours
  • Supervise group activities, sports events, and school outings
  • Support teachers in managing student behavior
  • Help teachers improve children's core skills, such as reading and writing
  • Provide one-to-one care and support to children
  • Ensure a healthy, engaging, and safe learning environment for children
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or equivalent (at least 20 days in the last 2 years)
  • Ability to guide and teach children aged 5-11
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good relationship-building skills
  • Ability to create an encouraging learning environment for children
  • Active listening skills
  • Understanding, encouraging, and sensitivity towards children and their needs
  • Ability to carry out tasks involving a computer or hand-device
  • Ability to respond calmly and constructively when under stress
  • Flexible working attitude
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field
  • Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or similar
  • Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education or similar
  • T Level in Education and Early Years or similar
