PURPOSE

To contribute to the culinary team at The Golden Lion, ensuring the efficient preparation, cooking, and presentation of high-quality dishes for our patrons.

DUTIES
& RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate with the kitchen staff to motivate and maintain the standards of food quality and safety.

Effectively communicate with team members to guarantee the delivery of exceptional food and customer service.

Address guest inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally, particularly regarding dietary information.

Under the guidance of the Head Chef, instruct the team on food preparation and presentation techniques, ensuring they understand the skills necessary for each dish.

Balance various kitchen responsibilities, including food preparation, cleanliness, and maintenance, while upholding high hygiene standards.

At the beginning of each shift, consult with the Head Chef to review the day's objectives, including bookings and necessary preparation tasks. Discuss any anticipated challenges.

At the conclusion of each shift, debrief with the culinary team to confirm task completion and prepare for the next shift.

This role offers opportunities to enhance management and motivational skills; asking questions and encouraging team inquiries is vital for growth.

As part of a small team, you will engage in a variety of tasks as outlined above.

Our menu is updated daily, featuring locally sourced, seasonal ingredients from Cornwall. You will collaborate with suppliers to curate a menu that meets our quality expectations.

Our Practices

Ensure adherence to all kitchen processes, recipes, and procedures to maintain the highest standards.

Take pride in keeping back-of-house areas, including changing rooms, clean, hygienic, and organized at all times.

Set up and close down the kitchen according to our standards, including stock rotation and preparation processes. Complete daily and weekly cleaning assignments and stay informed about current promotions and new offerings.

Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance needs to management. Complete all necessary documentation and due diligence records during each shift.

Enhance personal knowledge through in-house training, online courses, and workbooks.

Consistently adhere to brand standards, company policies, and procedures.

Fulfill requests from management and follow brand directives.
