Role Responsibilities

As a SEMH Support Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to assist students who encounter difficulties related to their social, emotional, or mental well-being. You will play a vital role in the school's initiatives to help these students navigate obstacles, cultivate coping strategies, and reach their academic and personal potential.

Key Duties
  • Individualized Support: Offer tailored assistance to students with SEMH requirements.
  • Emotional Support: Aid students in developing emotional regulation and coping techniques.
  • Behavioral Guidance: Collaborate with students to enhance their behavior and participation in school activities.
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside educators, SENCOs, and other staff to implement effective support strategies.
  • Monitoring Progress: Track and report on student development, adjusting support as necessary.
  • Creating a Safe Environment: Help foster a positive, nurturing, and secure atmosphere for all students.
Candidate Profile
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or young individuals, particularly those with SEMH needs, is highly valued.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy: A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students.
  • Resilience: Ability to remain calm and proactive in challenging situations.
  • DBS Check: An enhanced DBS check is mandatory for this position.
