Location:*** Govan and Scotstoun – On-site attendance required

Compensation: £37,318 (potential shift allowance of 33%)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting technical schematics and engineering designs
  • Marking materials for fabrication
  • Preparing plates using various techniques (Oxy-fuel gas cutting & Hand Grinding), conducting pressure tests, drilling, and fitting locks
  • Assembling ship structures including hulls, decks, bulkheads, frames, and longitudinal components
  • Fitting, fairing, and tack welding steel components utilizing fairing aids
  • Fabricating ship components such as seats, ladders, false flooring, and panels
  • Outfitting ship elements, including the installation of hatches, watertight doors, equipment seats, and false flooring
  • Shaping materials with machine tools – Rolling, Flanging, and Cutting Machines (guillotine, cropper, mechanical saw)
  • Preparing vessels for float-off and sea trials

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Relevant trade qualifications, e.g., formal modern apprenticeship (ability to provide documentation)
  • Current expertise in fabrication processes
  • Strong awareness of SHE risk management
  • Understanding of manufacturing methodologies
  • Comfort working in confined spaces and at heights
  • Safety certifications, including SHE induction, COSHH awareness, and working at height
  • Experience in a significant construction manufacturing setting
