Job Purpose

To lead and inspire a combined team of operations and maintenance employees across a number of wholesale production assets. The Production Manager will performance manage their team and the assets within the production area to ensure a safe, efficient and compliant outcome.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversee the operations and maintenance budget for the production area and deliver the financial business plan.
  2. Ensure asset performance and meet the operational business plan for the production area.
  3. Drive improvements in compliance, efficiency and Health and Safety.
  4. Manage and develop direct reports through regular contact, one to one meetings, performance reviews etc.
  5. Accountable for security and emergency requirements at the sites for which they are responsible.
  6. Contribute to the day-to-day leadership of the area including sharing best practice, implementing improvements plans and leading on activities identified through the business plan development.
  7. Build and maintain key external relationships, including regulators and customers as appropriate.
  8. Work closely with internal stakeholders to identify and resolve asset problems in the most effective manner and maintain assets proactively.
  9. Act as a leader and advocate to deliver change required as part of the business plan.
  10. Implement an effective operations and maintenance regime for the production area asset, minimising reactive work and work orders and increasing planned proactive activities.
  11. Ensure both they and their team members work within the clear framework given to ensure effective operations and maintenance of their assets.
  12. Balance financial, customer service, regulatory compliance and people priorities in order to deliver the business plan and sustainable and effective operations and maintenance regimes.
Requirements
  1. Strong managerial and leadership skills to deliver performance through a team of people responsible for wholesale production assets.
  2. Experience of managing operational budgets and delivering innovative solutions to improve the sustainable operating cost of a production type operation.
  3. Good understanding of operations and maintenance strategies and preferably have some production line experience and the ability to react and keep production moving.
  4. Effective communication skills able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Education, ideally to HNC level (or equivalent) and an experienced line manager in a process or maintenance environment.
  6. A good level understanding of the regulatory and legislative framework surrounding the operation and maintenance of wholesale production assets.
  7. Analytical skills and the ability to drive solutions to a wide range of technical and managerial problems, whilst also knowing when to stop and ask for help from support colleagues.
