We are a dynamic and busy GP surgery seeking a skilled Minor Illness Practitioner to contribute to our multidisciplinary team. Our practice provides comprehensive care to over 17,000 patients in Bicester and surrounding areas.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will possess experience in a GP or clinical setting, with the ability to work effectively within a primary care team. This role involves assessing and triaging patients, managing patient lists, and providing treatment or referrals as needed.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assess and triage patients, including same-day triage via phone and face-to-face consultations
  • Manage patient lists and cover triage duties on designated days
  • Provide treatment, including prescribing medications, or make necessary referrals
  • Identify red flags, underlying serious pathology, and take appropriate action
  • Use complex decision-making to inform diagnosis, investigation, and complete management of care
  • Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team
  • Complete relevant training and stay up-to-date with best practices
  • Advise patients on general healthcare and promote self-management

Requirements

  • Experience in a GP or clinical setting, with aptitude for working within a primary care team
  • Ability to perform investigatory procedures, collect pathological specimens, and interpret ECGs
  • Confident communication skills to advise GPs of potential problems or errors
  • Accurate and timely recording of information on our system
  • Maintaining equipment in accordance with infection control best practices
