About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Children Services Practitioner to join our team at Powys Teaching Health Board. As a key member of our service, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality clinical telephone triage and assessment to individuals experiencing mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide complex clinical telephone triage and assessment to individuals presenting with mental health issues, using your knowledge, skills, and professional judgment.
  2. Manage a team of staff, including Well-being Practitioners, Health Care Support Workers, and Peer Workers, and act as a point of escalation and decision-maker for clinical triage and risk management.
  3. Work autonomously, using clinical software to provide high-quality clinical triage and assessment, and make dynamic triage decisions to connect individuals with local mental health and well-being services.
  4. Provide specific mental health advice, relating to clinical risk, the Mental Health Act, or the Mental Capacity Act.
  5. Contribute to a reduction in the numbers of calls and the duration of calls made by people in mental health distress, through identifying and defining frequent callers, improving signposting to alternative care pathways, and identifying proactive plans of care.

Requirements
  • Post-basic education in the area of practice to postgraduate diploma level.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Desirable: experience of supervising junior colleagues, experience of working at Band 6 or above, and experience of undertaking full holistic assessments.
