Job Title: Quantity Surveyor - Structural Steel Specialist
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Hunter Mason Consulting Ltd. As a Quantity Surveyor - Structural Steel Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the success of our projects, working closely with our clients and project teams to deliver high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: You will be responsible for managing projects typically ranging from £250k to £5 million, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Contract Negotiation: You will review and negotiate Contract conditions and Collateral Warranties with Clients, ensuring that our company's interests are protected.
- Budgeting and Cost Planning: You will develop initial project budgets from Estimating and agree detailed cost plans with the Project Team, ensuring that our clients receive accurate and reliable cost information.
- Payment Applications and Negotiation: You will prepare Monthly Applications for Payment and negotiate with Clients to maximize cash flow.
- Variation Pricing: You will price variations in detail, typically due to changes to design and/or construction work.
- Client and Project Meetings: You will attend client and project meetings, ensuring that our clients are informed and up-to-date on project progress.
- Commercial Management: You will work closely with the design team, site, and project managers on the running of various contracts, ensuring that our company's commercial interests are protected.
- Project Monitoring: You will continuously monitor project budgets, performance, and costs from start to completion, identifying and mitigating any potential risks.
- Reporting and Forecasting: You will create regular budget, price updates, and monthly preparation of contract performance reports (CVR's) for the Directors, as well as compile Cash-flow forecasts and work in progress reports (WIP) for the Financial Department.
- Procurement and Commercial Management: You will procure specialist suppliers and Sub-Contractor Orders, including subsequent commercial management of their accounts.
- Final Accounts and Credit Control: You will negotiate and conduct settlement of Client and Sub-contractor Final Accounts alongside the Commercial Director, as well as deal with Retentions / Collateral Warranties and Credit Control.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related subject.
- Experience: Experience with Structural Steel / Metal / Steelwork / Metalwork.
- Personal Qualities: Self-motivated, friendly, sociable, and driven, with a full driving license.
- Commercial Awareness: Commercially aware and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to Detail: Attention to detail with a right-first-time attitude, and strong organisation and time management skills.
