About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Planner to join our team at Skilled Careers. As a Construction Planner, you will play a crucial role in providing a complete construction planning service at pre-qualification, preconstruction, and construction stages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-qualification and Preconstruction: Provide outline programmes, logistic plans, and methodologies at pre-qualification stage and submit/present to clients and client representatives.
  • Tender and Contract Planning: Provide detailed tender construction programmes from first principles together with method statements for inclusion in Bid submissions, and develop contract programmes, target programmes, close out programmes, and procurement schedules.
  • Project Progress Reporting: Undertake independent project progress reporting, including the analysis of the outcome and providing feedback to project teams and senior management, and advise on potential mitigations measures.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with all stakeholders both internal and external, and promote the company at pre-qualification, tender, and contract interviews, presentations, and meetings.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Site Visits: Visit sites to ascertain conditions and constraints to be considered in preparing tender programmes and method statements.
  • Schedule Development: Assess requirements and provide comprehensive scaffold, hoist, and crane schedules to be used in obtaining competitive and realistic quotations.
  • Information Release: Provide to the contract team information release schedules.
  • Programme Comparison: Compile comparative programmes for use in substantiation of claims or in disputes.
  • Team Support: Work as part of both tendering and project teams, and support and mentor junior members of the team in a supporting role when allocated.
Requirements
  • Experience: Experience of construction planning on a variety of projects from new build, refurb, and fitout.
  • Tendering and Preconstruction: Ideally experience of tendering and preconstruction.
  • Programme Management: Ability to manage a number of project programmes simultaneously.
  • Contractual Awareness: Good contractual awareness and commercially astute.
  • Software Skills: Use of ASTA Planning software; training is available to transfer skills from other planning software where applicable.
  • Health and Safety: Aware of individual Health and Safety responsibilities and adheres to company health and safety policy and procedures.
