Yard Operations Specialist

As a key member of the Transport Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a smooth transition when loading, unloading trailers, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities- Adhere to company rules, site procedures, and Health & Safety guidelines at all times.
- Effectively manage working time in line with the Road Transport Directive.
- Liaise with colleagues and complete shift reports.
- Conduct daily checks, report defects and damage, and complete associated documentation.
- Carry out trailer checks and report to operations staff.
- Complete trailer checklists and report to the operations desk.
- Perform shunting duties, including maintenance and safety checks.
- Liaise with warehouse control and goods-in staff to ensure smooth loading and unloading.
- Complete vehicle downloads as per company policy.
- Monitor services and MOTs, liaising with the Transport Office and service vendors.
- Assist with fuel delivery and manual dip of fuel.
- Maintain a clean and tidy yard.
- Liaise with the Transport Office as required.
- Manage traffic flow in and out of the yard.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
- Adaptable and methodical approach to work and training.
- Conscientious and reliable.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
- Effectively prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
- Able to work as part of a team or individually.
- Able to communicate effectively and professionally.
- Knowledge of the Road Transport Directive and current drivers' hours.
