Junior Merchandiser Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Merchandiser to join our team. As a Junior Merchandiser, you will play a key role in helping to plan and develop Merchandising strategies that balance customer expectations and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Senior Merchandising Team in implementing new procedures and processes.
  • Analyse and report on current sales data, customer reactions, and channel trends to anticipate product needs and plan future ranges and stock.
  • Help build and maintain a comprehensive library of historical data.
  • Work to key performance indicators to optimise sales volume and profitability of designated product areas according to the business plan.
  • Pro-actively involve in planning future ranges in conjunction with the wider product team.
  • Actively involved in monitoring slow sellers and proposing price reductions as necessary, including the roll-up of mid and end-of-season sale plans.
  • Collaborate with the team to monitor stock movement and propose intake re-phasing as necessary based on the forward seasonal plan.
  • Work collaboratively with the Merchandising, Operations, and Logistics teams to ensure timely onboarding and arrival of stock with our various partners.
  • Set the department strategy and option framework to ensure a balanced and commercial product range.
  • Support the Merchandiser in maintaining department WSSIs, stock, and sales plans, ensuring stock is managed to targets.
  • Take full ownership of departmental line cards, re-forecasting on a monthly basis, and building out future sales plans.
  • Pro-actively analyse sales data and trends and use data to influence decisions in buying meetings.
  • Pro-actively monitor sales and stock to take action to optimise sales and margin performance, ensuring the team reacts to sales trends.
  • Manage order placement and intake to ensure on-time product launches and awareness of product lead times to maximise trading opportunities.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to enable flexibility and trading.
  • Take full ownership of critical paths and communicate key issues to the wider team.
Requirements:
  • Experience as an Assistant Merchandiser, Junior Merchandiser, or similar.
  • Analytical skills - confident in working with and extracting insight from data.
  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • You'll enjoy working both as part of a team as well as being self-motivated.
  • Flexible and open to change as the business grows.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong computer literacy skills, especially in Excel.
