Functional Skills Educator

Pertemps Bond is seeking a dedicated and passionate Functional Skills Educator to join our team at both HMP Pentonville and HMP Wormwood Scrubs. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of learners by equipping them with essential skills for success.

About the Role

As a Functional Skills Educator, you will play a vital role in delivering engaging and effective lessons tailored to the unique needs of each individual learner. You will guide learners through accredited and non-accredited programs, fostering a supportive environment that promotes academic growth and personal development.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver inspiring English lessons that motivate learners and encourage self-directed learning.
  • Customize both accredited and non-accredited programs to align with the specific interests and needs of learners.
  • Create individualized learning plans that equip learners with essential skills, knowledge, and behaviors for positive progression.
  • Cultivate a supportive educational environment that fosters academic success and personal growth.
  • Assess learner progress, provide constructive feedback, and guide them towards achieving their educational goals.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum Level 2 in Maths and English (GCSE grades 9 to 4, A* to C, or equivalent).
  • A qualification in the specialist subject area of Functional Skills English or Maths.
  • Demonstrated success in teaching within the subject specialism, particularly within the offender learning sector (desirable).
  • A Level 5 UK teaching qualification or equivalent.
