About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Contracts Solicitor to join our team at LAW Absolute. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing legal advice on commercial, contracts, and procurement law, adhering to the Legal Services Core Competencies Framework.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial law, contract law, and procurement legislations and practices. You will be an admitted Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEX of England and Wales with a current practising certificate. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to work closely with Elected Members and Directorate and Corporate teams to provide strategic support.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to achieve a genuine work/life balance while doing challenging and interesting work. The role offers a salary of £49,590 – £52,658 (DOE) and an excellent benefits package. This is a full-time position with the council operating on a flexible working environment.

About the Position
  • Provide legal advice in relation to commercial, contracts, and procurement law.
  • Manage and provide advice on your own caseload of varied complex matters with minimal supervision.
  • Deputise for the Senior Lawyers and support junior legal colleagues in their work if required.
  • Act as a senior and specialist legal advisor and support a significant portfolio of work which directly delivers on the Council's key priorities and areas of risk.
  • Undertake complex proceedings on behalf of the council with minimal supervision, including complex advocacy work where required.
About You
  • You will be ambitious, a team player, driven by delivering a high-quality service, and have a positive attitude towards building relationships with social workers and your wider team.
  • Good knowledge of commercial law, contract law, and procurement legislations and practices are essential.
  • You will be comfortable undertaking some advocacy and have a genuine enthusiasm for the work.
