Position: Principal Engineer – Product Safety Engineering

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate within an Integrated Development Team dedicated to the advancement and delivery of submarine systems and capabilities.
- Focus on the completion of Product Safety tasks and activities across various systems to support project milestones throughout all phases of Engineering Life Cycle Management.
- Support Hazard Identification and Analysis initiatives.
- Assist in the creation or review of safety documentation.
- Ensure the Integrated Development Team adheres to the project Safety Management System.
- Coordinate with other Integrated Development Teams and the Whole Boat Safety Team.
Required Qualifications:
- Achieved or expected a minimum of a 2:2 in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering.
- Familiarity with 'Safety and Systems Engineering' principles and 'Engineering Life Cycle Management' processes.
- Experience in collaborative team environments while also being capable of independent task execution.
- Ability to adapt to changing work practices and customer needs.
- Self-driven with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Practical experience in Product Safety Engineering within the maritime defense sector is preferred, though experience from other industries will be considered.

About the Safety & Environmental Team:
This role is ideal for those interested in submarine operations and the Royal Navy's submarine capabilities. As a Product Safety Engineer, you will work alongside System Engineers to influence the development of submarine systems and capabilities. You will gain insights into the functioning of submarine systems and ensure that system interactions appropriately consider Product Safety.
The position offers involvement in all facets of safety management and safety case delivery, including safety requirements capture, hazard identification and analysis, hazard data management, application of the ALARP principle, and the maintenance of safety documentation. This role provides a unique opportunity to understand a complex system, such as a submarine.
