Job Summary

The Learning Disability Service is a specialist service that provides a range of services for children and adolescents with a diagnosed learning disability. Our team consists of learning disability nurses, clinical psychologists, and support assistants who work together to offer assessment, intervention, consultation, liaison, and training for other agencies.

Main Duties
  • Support the clinical lead in supervising staff and trainees within the pathway as appropriate.
  • Take a leadership role in the clinical psychology service within the specialist learning disability pathway, promoting clinical governance and quality improvement.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within professional and guidelines as a specialist within Child and Family Health Devon Service Directorate.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support clinical leadership and contribute to the systemic provision of a high-quality specialist clinical psychology service as part of the specialist learning disability service. They will provide direct specialist psychological assessments and interventions for children and young people with a learning disability and their families, as well as contribute to quality improvement and service development.

Person Specification
  • Qualified Clinical Psychologist (or equivalent)
  • HCPC registration
  • Experience in the use of assessment tools such as Vineland 3, WISC, and WAIS
  • Car driver
