This is a full-time, permanent role working Monday to Friday from 3.30pm to 1.00am with a competitive salary of £36,225 per annum.
In this role, you will be a key player in the CPM Department, responsible for executing the production plan through effective management of personnel, products, and processes, while adhering to company, customer, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all team members on the production line operate safely and efficiently, maintaining food safety and product quality at all times.
- Become a Subject Matter Expert on all equipment and processes within your area of responsibility (subject to appropriate training).
- Ensure that only trained personnel undertake any work tasks.
- Develop a high-performing team of Senior Operators through continuous training and coaching, supporting them in their roles.
- Assist the Shift Manager in the execution of their responsibilities.
- Manage safety protocols diligently, ensuring that all agreed actions to mitigate risks are strictly followed, taking accountability for the safety of your team.
- Ensure operational compliance from a performance, food safety, quality, and health & safety perspective.
- Adhere to company standards following the S (Safety) Q (Quality) P (People) D (Delivery) C (Cost) model by monitoring and controlling company standards through effective KPI management. This includes:
- Safety: Ensure adherence to Safe Systems of Work, proactively identifying workplace hazards and seeking improvement ideas from the team. Confirm that all equipment is safe to operate and only used by fully trained staff.
- Quality: Collaborate with line teams to ensure compliance with quality specifications, addressing any deviations promptly to minimize customer complaints.
- People: Support the team in implementing and enhancing procedures to meet required work standards, assist in identifying development needs through cross-training, and maintain effective communication within the team.
- Delivery: Accurately manage the SIC process and provide on-the-job coaching to achieve and exceed efficiency targets, addressing any performance issues with the Shift Manager.
- Cost: Achieve yield targets through batch mass balance, utilizing reports and live data to ensure product giveaways align with cost targets, and investigate non-conforming processes to reduce waste.
- Utilize data analysis and lean methodologies to assist the Shift Manager in fostering a culture of Continuous Improvement, actively seeking to eliminate waste and reduce costs.
- Promote operational excellence by supporting company policies and lean initiatives, playing an active role in their formation and implementation.
- Challenge operational performance standards constructively regarding food safety, quality, and health and safety.
- Timely escalate issues through appropriate channels, offering solutions where applicable.
- Collaborate with relevant departments to find solutions to challenges.
- Maintain and develop a culture of continuous improvement in the production area through project improvement plans.
- Contribute to the development of line-based SOPs, ensuring procedures are accurate.
- Encourage ideas for performance improvement from your direct reports and implement action-based improvement plans.
- Uphold and promote the company values of Teamwork, Responsibility, Ambition, and Passion for Food both internally and externally.
- Ensure adherence to the company return-to-work procedure at all times.
- Confirm that the line team wears PPE correctly in accordance with training.
- Act as a deputy during the absence of the Production Shift Manager.
