Propulsion Engineer - Undergraduate Placement

We are seeking a talented and motivated undergraduate student to join our team as a Propulsion Engineer for a 10-month placement starting in September 2025.

About the Role

As a Propulsion Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on real-world engineering projects and technologies, applying your university learning to industry-specific problems. You will be part of a collaborative team that values diversity and inclusion, and you will have the chance to develop your skills and knowledge in propulsion performance modelling, tool development, and missile design.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Work on propulsion performance modelling techniques and develop bespoke tools to evaluate propulsion system options
  2. Evaluate a range of missiles in different stages of development, including concept, assessment, development, and in-service
  3. Contribute to the design and development of propulsion systems, considering propulsion performance, integration, plume, thermal, structural, and system aspects
  4. Work with leading UK and international propulsion system suppliers to integrate propulsion systems onto land, naval, and air platforms
  5. Apply your university learning to real-world engineering projects and technologies
Requirements
  1. Currently studying a Degree in Aerospace engineering, Aeronautical engineering, Mechanical engineering, General engineering, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Sciences, or other related subject
  2. Possess a passion for propulsion, flight performance, and the underlying sciences
