About the Role

The Deputy Clinical Site Nurse Practitioner will play a key role in supporting the Clinical Site Nurse Practitioners in providing leadership, management, and clinical skills to ensure the provision of safe and effective patient care.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing support and advice, especially after hours, for patient care and referral to medical staff.
  • Perform clinical interventions and teach procedures to ward staff.
  • Ensure effective communication regarding patient care and management.
  • Maintain theoretical knowledge and ensure safe equipment use.
  • Promote infection prevention and reduce hospital-acquired infections.
  • Develop and maintain clinical skills and implement evidence-based practice.

Management Responsibilities

  • Assist in hospital operations and provide leadership for patient care.
  • Coordinate emergency responses and manage bed resources effectively.
  • Foster good relationships with staff, patients, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Redeploy staff as needed and ensure adherence to standards.
  • Act as a role model and maintain professionalism.

Capacity Management

  • Participate in capacity meetings and maintain accurate bed state information.
  • Coordinate with personnel to optimise bed utilisation.
  • Ensure timely and safe discharge and transfer of patients.
  • Troubleshoot issues in the patient pathway and escalate infection control concerns.
  • Support site management 24/7 and collect capacity data for audits.

Education Responsibilities

  • Teach and create a positive learning environment.
  • Assist in training programs for staff.
  • Maintain research-based practice and participate in nursing initiatives.
  • Continuously enhance own knowledge through education and training.

Requirements

  • Registered Adult Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Practice Supervisor/Practice Assessor qualification.
  • Current Immediate Life Support qualification.
