Mechanical Technician Position

Full Time – Shift patterns vary between 0 & 0 hours for an 8-hour period

Location: Great Western Hospital, Wiltshire

Salary: Competitive, based on experience plus benefits

Serco is looking for a proficient Mechanical Technician to support the operational team at Great Western Hospital. This role is essential for the effective and safe upkeep of mechanical systems and apparatus within the facility, guided by the Estates Supervisors and Management. The position necessitates shift work to cover operational hours from 7:00 - 19:00, Monday to Sunday, and involvement in an on-call rota.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct reactive repairs, troubleshooting, servicing, commissioning, and maintenance on a variety of equipment including Boiler systems, AHUs, and Chiller Plant
  • Deliver comprehensive impact assessments and risk evaluations for system shutdowns
  • Organize and manage maintenance tasks and contractor operations
  • Diagnose and analyze faults in complex mechanical systems
  • Execute Planned Preventive Maintenance
  • Ensure adherence to Serco Policies & Procedures
  • Actively engage in Health & Safety systems and practices
  • Support the training and development of team members
  • Utilize Personal Protective Equipment as necessary
  • Participate in both on-site and off-site training programs

Qualifications:

  • Experience in engineering with expertise in motor repair and bearing replacements
  • Level 3 Certificate/Diploma/NVQ in a mechanical discipline
  • Certifications in BOAS, L8/HSG, HTM Medical Gas, Ventilation, and Water Hygiene Training
  • Prior experience in a comparable environment
  • Understanding of Mechanical Building Services
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities
