Join Our Team as a Senior Waste Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Waste Consultant to join our team at AtkinsRéalis Nuclear. As a key member of our Reactor Operations and Decommissioning team, you will play a critical role in the safe dismantling and disposal of ageing nuclear reactors and management of radioactive waste.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective waste management strategies to minimize environmental impact and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for business change in decommissioning and waste management, with a focus on Net Zero.
  • Provide technical leadership and coaching to junior members of staff, ensuring the successful delivery of projects within budget and programme scope.
  • Engage with stakeholders to share knowledge, build networks, and deliver complex projects.
  • Maintain focus on successful project delivery, meeting targets while working within budget and programme scope.
Requirements:
  • Degree-qualified in science (chemistry/ physics/ environmental sciences) or engineering (chemical/ mechanical/ process) or significant relevant technical experience.
  • Relevant experience working in a related field, with a strong understanding of nuclear reactor decommissioning and radioactive waste management.
  • Good standard of written English and the ability to write clear and concise technical reports.
  • Flexible in approach to work, with the ability to travel to client sites as required.
  • Knowledge of nuclear reactor decommissioning and the management of radioactive waste on a nuclear licensed site.
  • Project management and/or leadership experience, with on-site experience at a nuclear facility highly beneficial.
