We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support sessions to students, focusing on coping strategies, emotional regulation, and self-care techniques.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement education plans for students with mental health concerns.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with teachers to ensure seamless support.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant privacy and safeguarding laws and regulations.
  • Support teachers in managing student behavior and specialist needs.

Requirements:

  • GCSEs or equivalent in Mathematics.
  • Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or mental health setting.
  • Strong understanding of mental health issues affecting students, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle crisis situations effectively.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about best practices in mental health support for students.
  • Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of child safeguarding and respond to concerns effectively.

Working Arrangements:

This role will involve working with students from the primary sector with moderate learning difficulties and ADHD. The successful candidate will be based in the North of Hampshire and will work term-time hours from 08:30 – 15:30. We are looking for part-time applicants, but full-time applicants will also be considered.
