Job Title: AAT Accounts Assistant

As a key member of the project's core team, the AAT Accounts Assistant will provide essential support to the Project Accountant in maintaining the integrity of costs and accuracy of transaction processing. This role is responsible for ensuring the financial control, governance, and segregation of duties are upheld, in line with JV guidelines.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Project Accounting: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of costs, and process transactions in accordance with accounting policies.
  • Financial Control: Maintain sound financial controls, ensuring all applicable requirements are met at all times.
  • General Administration: Maintain accurate records, ensure data security, and meet group requirements.

General Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post accurate journals, accruals, and liabilities in line with accounting policies.
  • Process payments through the project's banking system.
  • Analyze partner charges, obtain supporting information, and query/action incorrect charges.
  • Assist with processing payroll for weekly operatives directly employed by the JV.
  • Assist in the preparation of VAT and CIS returns.
  • Daily bank reconciliations.
  • Purchase card reconciliations.
  • Post other documents and journals in E1.
  • Support the wider Finance & Commercial team with financial tasks.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 2+ years of accounting experience.
  • Excel, IT, and communication skills.
  • Competent in retrieving and understanding data from the chosen timesheet system.
  • Takes ownership of output.
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Self-confident.
  • Studying towards a recognized qualification.
  • Previous experience ideally in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Experience of using a computerized accounting system (E1).
