Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior CAD Designer to join our team at BAE Systems. As a Senior CAD Designer, you will be responsible for creating 2D and 3D solid modelled designs for a wide range of products, from small components to large complex sub-systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the engineering and manufacturing interface through relevant manufacturing processes.
  • Oversee production and assembly practices associated with the manufacture of equipment, identifying long-lead piece parts.
  • Work with Manufacturing Technicians to consider manufacturing improvements and liaise with sub-contract manufacturers or suppliers.
  • Develop detailed designs and data packs suitable for manufacture from conceptual information or component lists.
  • Manage engineering changes for your area of responsibility against a robust change management process.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Currently working in a senior designer role.
  • Expert in the use of 2D and 3D CAD design tools, preferably Siemens NX.
  • Experience of designing to meet Environmental requirements (EMC, Shock and Vibration).
  • Experience of design for manufacture and design for maintainability practices.
  • A good understanding of BS8888 Engineering Drawing standards (previously BS308).
  • An understanding of Electrical drawing practices, creation of Circuit Diagrams and Wiring Schedules under the guidance of Electrical Engineers.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office applications.
