Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Family Law Solicitor to lead our Family Law department. The successful candidate will have a strong background in family law, including divorce, financial disputes, and child abduction/adoption cases. They will be responsible for managing a team of solicitors, trainee solicitors, and caseworkers, and will provide technical expertise and guidance to ensure the delivery of high-quality legal services to our clients.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise a team of solicitors, trainee solicitors, and caseworkers to ensure the delivery of high-quality legal services to our clients.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to ensure the delivery of high-quality legal services to our clients.
  • Assist with the delivery of training and development programs for the department.
  • Deal with a range of family law cases, including divorce, financial disputes, and child abduction/adoption cases.
  • Develop and implement business development and marketing strategies to supplement the firm's work volumes.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must have a clean, valid Practising Certificate at the time of applying.
  • Strong management skills, including the ability to manage and supervise a team of solicitors, trainee solicitors, and caseworkers.
  • Committed team player with the ability to approach team concerns fairly, foster a culture of positive change, and encourage cross-referrals.
  • Previous proven supervisory experience and working to key performance indicators.
  • Professional with a proactive approach, excellent client care skills, and the ability to deal with vulnerable client matters in a sensitive manner and resolve complicated practicalities involved in family law issues.
  • Excellent networking and communication skills, with the ability to successfully market the firm and generate new business.
  • Working knowledge of the publicly funded family law work and the ability to service privately funded cases.
  • Extensive experience in dealing with all family law-related work and some expertise on adoption matters.
  • Experience in own advocacy is an advantage.
  • Excellent IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and document management skills.

Law Society Children/Family Accreditation/Resolution:

The firm will support your career progression if you decide to pursue Children, Family, or Family Advanced Panel accreditation with the Law Society or Resolution. We will cover the cost of:

  • Attending the mandatory training course.
  • Application fees.
  • Annual membership fee.
  • Children Law Reaccreditation every 3 years.
  • Family Law Reaccreditation every 5 years.

The total cost of progressing onto the Children panel is approximately £1700.

Children/Family Law Accreditation Salary:

Moving forward, we are looking to offer all new Children, Family, Family Advanced, and Resolution Panel members a base salary of:

  • £48,000 in London and within the M25.
  • £46,000 outside London.

This salary will apply from the date you are registered as a panel member/accredited with the Law Society. Advancement of the above fees will be subject to our terms and conditions in the contract of employment/accreditation agreement.
