About the Role

IDEX Consulting Ltd is seeking an experienced Actuarial Assistant to join their team. As a leading pension consulting firm, they offer a unique opportunity for career growth and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Engagement: Attend client meetings, presenting actuarial findings and engaging with clients on relevant key issues.
  • Calculation Review: Check and review a variety of actuarial calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Advice Provision: Understand the implications of calculation results and provide advice on matters such as contribution rates, levy reduction, and liability reduction exercises.
  • Reporting and Communication: Draft reports, emails, and presentations to deliver actuarial results and advice to clients.
  • Client Management: Take responsibility for allocating and completing work, meeting deadlines, and working directly with the Scheme Actuary.
  • Technical Knowledge: Maintain a good understanding of relevant technical issues, including TASs, Codes of Practice, scheme documentation, and the supporting regulatory framework.
  • Process Improvement: Develop internal standard processes and identify new ways to work more efficiently.
  • Personal Development: Take a proactive role in personal development and training, attending and delivering internal technical training sessions.
Requirements
  • Actuarial Qualification: Newly or nearly qualified as an Actuary with experience working in the pensions industry.
  • Pensions Knowledge: Broad understanding of how UK pensions schemes operate, with an understanding of UK Pensions Legislation.
  • Planning and Organisation: Excellent planning skills with the ability to prioritise and complete work in accordance with deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues in simplified terms.
  • Technical Skills: Strong IT skills with good working knowledge of MS Office suite of products, in particular Excel.
  • Analytical Mind: An inquisitive and analytical mind with outstanding accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Organisation and Time Management: Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Pensions Legislation: Broad understanding of how the UK pensions schemes operate, with an understanding of the UK Pensions Act and the ability to interpret rules and awareness of what they mean for client work.
