Position Overview

South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking committed and innovative nursing professionals to join our Acute Paediatric Team. The ideal candidate will be a registered children's nurse with a background in acute care settings.

The Paediatric department includes a 17-bed ward, featuring one High Dependency bed, and a 5-bed Paediatric Assessment Unit that handles referrals from community services and emergency departments. This role is specifically for the Paediatric Assessment Unit, with the possibility of cross-departmental work if desired. Joining our team will allow you to enhance your clinical assessment capabilities and be part of a growing paediatric workforce. Our service currently operates from 10:00 to 22:00, with plans for expansion under review. We are open to flexible working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

Deliver high-quality nursing care to infants, children, and young people within a family-oriented framework, in line with the ward's philosophy.

Support junior staff, students, Clinical Sisters, and the Ward Manager, while adhering to national and trust protocols.

Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and take charge of nursing shifts as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • Higher Diploma/Degree in RSCN/RNC/R Children & Young People's Nursing
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
  • Proficient in numeracy and IT skills

Desirable Qualifications

  • Assessor & Mentor qualification (308CPD) or equivalent

Essential Experience

  • All paediatric nurses, including newly qualified

Desirable Experience

  • 12 months of current experience in acute paediatrics
