Critical National Infrastructure Lead Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Critical National Infrastructure Lead Engineer – Electrical Bias to work with a leading facilities management company, Mitie, to conduct work that provides a multi-skilled maintenance service to Critical National Infrastructure (CNI), covering electrical and mechanical disciplines, and to provide a reactive and proactive maintenance service as per project requirements to all operational equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational

You will be required to ensure CNI assets are in full working order, achieving relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and be the primary point of contact for all operational CNI-related activities. Ensure Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) related to CNI assets are scheduled and approved in advance of works, and provide technical support for CNI Engineers.

Ensure the CNI Shifts are scheduled and communicated in advance, which includes forming part of an escalation process for incidents, and provide alternating 1st line Out-of-Hours (OOH) escalation with the CNI Supervisor. You may also need to support CNI Shift Rota duties in the event of sickness absence, training, and annual leave, as necessary to ensure 24/7/52 operations.

Capacity Reports

Compile and analyze the data to determine areas of asset efficiency improvement that can be discussed with the client.

Incident Reports

Ensure incidents are reported in line with KPIs and satisfactorily closed out with corrective actions taken.

Change Controls

Raise Change Controls with 100% accuracy, representing changes for works approval.

Weekly Reports

Track relevant information needed for the Weekly CNI Report, compile, and present/submit this with accurate information as required in line with the KPIs.

Areas of Improvement

Create and conduct a regime of Scenario Training with the team. Identify gaps with effective resolution plans for Business Continuity Planning. Identify opportunities for efficiency/improvement of PPMs and Reactive works.

These responsibilities are not exhaustive and may be reviewed as part of a continuous improvement exercise.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Experience in a similar role within a Data Centre or similar critical environment with a proven track record in the effective management of planned programme of works and reactive works coordinating multi-skilled work groups
  • Previous experience of having been appointed as an Authored Person for HV/LV systems.
  • Excellent people management skills while able to manage sub-contractors and supply chain
  • Fully conversant with current Health and Safety legislation and process management systems
  • Understanding of asset management information systems together with remote monitoring integrated technology
  • Holder of a full and valid driving license
  • Qualified electrical and/or mechanical engineer (BS7671 qualified, City & Guilds Engr, ONC, Building Services, etc.) or equivalent
  • IT literate in MS Office
