Job Title: Principal/Lead Hardware Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Hardware Engineer to join our team at Leonardo. As a Principal/Lead Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-performance digital hardware for our self-protection systems installed on fast jet, UAV, land, and naval platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electronic hardware for complex electronic systems that meet challenging future customer requirements.
  • Work with experts in their field to deliver electronic hardware using world-class facilities.
  • Conduct technical problem-solving, hardware design, and product development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and reports.
  • Participate in technical reviews and provide input on design and development.

Requirements:

  • Experience in mixed-signal ADC/DAC, FPGA, SoC-based design for high-performance signal processing, communications, and control.
  • AC/DC Power Conversion experience.
  • Requirements definition, analysis, architecture development.
  • PCB design, component engineering.
  • Design verification & qualification testing, test & debugging, production support.
  • VPX system design.
  • Experience with fast interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, and JESDC.
  • Industry-standard design tools.
  • A structured approach to electronic design.
  • Electronics test methods and equipment.
  • 5 years UK residency and ability to achieve full SC security clearance.

Security Clearance:

Due to the nature of our work, any candidate must have 5 years UK residency and be capable of achieving full SC security clearance with access to UK Eyes Only and ITAR export control information.
