Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Therapy Support Specialist to join our dynamic and growing Outpatient Musculoskeletal Therapy team.

This role will primarily involve supporting various therapeutic activities and may require flexibility to assist in multiple locations within the service area.

The ideal candidate will be engaged in facilitating group exercise sessions, providing patients with verbal guidance and motivation.

Key responsibilities include assessing patients with mobility challenges, creating and overseeing tailored exercise plans for individuals with prevalent conditions, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and performing administrative tasks—all under the supervision of licensed therapists.

At South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust, our Physiotherapy department is a robust and evolving entity, rich in therapeutic expertise.

Our team operates a comprehensive service throughout the week, and the successful candidate will also support therapy staff in inpatient settings during weekends.

Main Responsibilities

• Assist the Physiotherapist in delivering high-quality therapy services across community, outpatient, and inpatient environments.

• Conduct assessments, implement treatment plans, and monitor patient progress in accordance with protocols established by Senior Therapists.

Job Duties

• Perform foundational assessments as directed by therapists, gathering information through observation and patient interaction.

• Design and implement individualized treatment plans based on guidelines from qualified therapists.

• Manage a personal caseload within a designated service area, occasionally working independently with access to support as needed.

• Ensure safe and proficient use of therapeutic equipment and maintain a hygienic environment.

• Complete clerical tasks as assigned by therapists.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Obtain informed consent for treatment in line with Trust policies, often communicating with patients who may have complex needs.

• Conduct basic physiotherapy assessments and develop treatment programs within established parameters.

• Regularly evaluate patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary, with guidance available from qualified therapists.

Weekend Responsibilities

• Participate actively in the weekend working schedule, supporting therapy staff as required.

Management Duties

• Adhere to Trust policies and professional guidelines, maintaining high standards of practice.

• Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

• Collect relevant clinical data and assist in the performance assessment of team members.

Educational Development

• Engage in continuous professional development and maintain a portfolio of learning.

• Participate in training programs and contribute to the mentorship of junior staff.

Communication and Teamwork

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to optimize rehabilitation outcomes.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
