About the Role

Strategic Infrastructure is a key part of National Grid's Electricity Transmission (NGET) division, responsible for delivering 17 major new projects to connect clean, low-carbon power to the transmission network in England and Wales. These projects, part of the Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) framework, play a vital role in achieving the UK Government's ambition of connecting 50GW of offshore wind by 2030. In addition to these 17 projects, Strategic Infrastructure will focus on the early-stage development of other strategic infrastructure requested by Ofgem.

As a Quantity Surveyor Graduate, you'll have the opportunity to manage costs for building and engineering projects, from initial calculations to final figures. You'll support the delivery of projects to time and budget, developing your skills in minimizing costs, enhancing value for money, and achieving required standards and quality.

Our Graduate Programme

As part of our 18-month graduate programme, you'll have a tailored development pathway to support your growth in leadership, business, and technical skills. You'll attend in-person and virtual development sessions to equip you with essential skills for your career at National Grid. We're committed to the personal development of our colleagues, offering support from your line manager, 121 coaching, and a mentor from a previous cohort to help you transition from campus to corporate life.

All graduates complete the core development programme to develop key skills such as making an impact, giving feedback, and presentation skills. Aligned to this role is our Commercial pathway, where you'll further develop commerciality skills and gain important insights into engineering and electricity to increase your understanding of our business and industry. Depending on your role, you may complete a formal qualification like the Chartered Institute of Professional Development (CIPD).

What You'll Need to Apply

You'll need to achieve a minimum 2:2 in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM), Business Studies, Accountancy-related degree, or any degree course with statistics or a significant element of numeracy. It doesn't matter when you graduated or if you're currently working towards your qualification.

Due to the amount of travel to our site locations, you'll need a full valid UK driving license that allows you to drive in the UK. You'll need flexibility to travel within the role and throughout your rotations as required.

To be eligible to apply for this role, candidates must demonstrate they'll have the legal right to work in the UK for the duration of the graduate programme. If you don't currently have the right to work in the UK or your visa is due to expire during the programme, please indicate this in your application, and we'll consider your eligibility for visa sponsorship.
