Job Description:

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Leonardo in the Luton Manufacturing Engineering Team. As a key member of the Manufacturing Operations business unit, you will be responsible for the smooth transition of new products from design into manufacture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes to ensure efficient and cost-effective production.
  • Lead front-end manufacturing engineering activities, including design for manufacturing, assembly, and test.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve production capability issues and ensure timely introduction of new products.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including process-specific risk assessments and technical reports.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to develop skills and competencies within Manufacturing Engineering.

Requirements:

  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and principles.
  • Good problem-solving skills and data analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated achievement and delivery of own work packages within a single engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated awareness of engineering decision-making and risk/reward trade-offs associated with project engineering activity.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of related engineering disciplines and levels of interaction required within a project.
  • Extensive knowledge of metallic machining principles and technologies.
