Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Advisory Committee Specialist to become a vital part of our Governance Office within the Enablement Group.

This position is part-time and permanent, designed to support our operational needs while promoting collaboration and stakeholder engagement.

Our organization embraces a flexible, hybrid working model, requiring a minimum of 8 days (pro rata) per month on-site to facilitate essential interactions with partners and stakeholders. Depending on business requirements, this may increase to 12 days monthly, with the remaining time spent either remotely or in the office.

About Us

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency plays a crucial role in enhancing public health through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices, grounded in scientific research.

The Governance Office, a key unit within the Agency, is responsible for delivering proactive and high-quality support to uphold the highest standards of corporate governance, risk management, and independent advisory committees.

This role will oversee the essential management of the Agency's advisory committees related to medicines and devices, collaborating closely with committee Chairs and the broader Committee Services Team.

Additionally, the Specialist will ensure effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, optimizing the use of committee meetings in accordance with established policies and governance frameworks.

As part of a small, collaborative team, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in securing independent advice to fulfill public health objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fostering strong relationships with Chairs and expert committee members, serving as a primary liaison to ensure the seamless execution of meetings in compliance with Human Medicines Regulation.
  • Promoting consistency across the organization regarding committee meetings by collaborating with team members and monitoring performance metrics.
  • Managing the collection and oversight of Declarations of Interest in accordance with policy, recognizing the significance of this service in maintaining public confidence in the Agency's operations.
  • Coordinating the appointment of new committee members in partnership with the scientific secretariat, Chairs, and appointments advisor.
  • Drafting responses to Parliamentary inquiries, Private Office correspondence, and Freedom of Information requests, ensuring timely submissions.
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to team members, supporting their professional development and fostering a culture of innovative problem-solving.

  • Self-motivation and the ability to meet key deliverables within established timelines.
  • Experience in a dynamic team environment, proficiency in MS Office, and a willingness to learn new software.
