Job Title: Surgical First Assistant

Job Type: Full-time / Part-time / Contract

We are seeking a skilled Surgical First Assistant to provide hands-on support to surgeons during a wide range of procedures, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the surgeon during operations by providing direct, skilled surgical support
  • Preparing and positioning patients for surgery, ensuring comfort and safety
  • Maintaining a sterile field and ensuring the availability of all necessary surgical instruments
  • Assisting with haemostasis, tissue retraction, suturing, and wound closure
  • Collaborating with the surgical team to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and ensure smooth procedures
  • Monitoring the patient's condition throughout surgery and assisting with any necessary interventions
  • Ensuring adherence to infection control and safety protocols within the operating theatre

Requirements:

  • Qualified Surgical First Assistant with relevant certification
  • Extensive experience working in a surgical environment, particularly in the role of a first assistant
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and medical terminology
  • Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, and ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to patient safety and high-quality care
