Powertrain Mechanical Development

Job Purpose: Deliver Air, Fuel and Exhaust development and validation testing in accordance with component & vehicle development plans. Support vehicle programme timing, cost and quality across all business projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with Design Team to define component and system targets
  2. Develop and maintain test procedures
  3. Create and own component, system and vehicle Development Validation Plans (DVP)
  4. Plan and execute mechanical development / performance development testing
  5. Ensure supplier validation and integrity of supplier DVP
  6. Lead problem-solving investigations during development programmes
  7. Contribute to vehicle team integration of air/fuel and exhaust systems into the powertrain
  8. Work closely with build teams to optimize instrumentation layout/requirements
  9. Collaborate with virtual validation teams to guide analysis and correlation to test results
  10. Analyze and interpret physical test results to correlate simulation and validate design function
  11. Optimize current test procedures and data analysis tools
  12. Develop close working relationships with external partners
  13. Collaborate with calibration team to ensure correct/reliable performance
  14. Support PT Systems S.T Team as an active member

Qualification & Experience:

  1. Extensive experience in hands-on powertrain testing/development roles
  2. Failure investigations and problem-solving
  3. Managing and developing external engineering resources
  4. Driving optimization through analysis
  5. Close collaboration with design and simulation teams, understanding data analysis and design process
  6. Working across functional teams effectively to deliver viable design solutions
  7. Managed concern resolution
  8. Working within an OEM environment
  9. Prior demonstration of testing budget and timing management
  10. Italian language skills
  11. Industry standard dyno and vehicle validation procedures
  12. Astute project control including resource planning, timing, milestones, and meeting disciplines
  13. Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification, strong background in powertrain development
  14. Industry-related courses – HV electrification safety awareness
