Staff Attorney - Responsible Parent Project

Rhode Island Legal Services, Inc. is seeking a full-time staff attorney to work in the Responsible Parent Project. The successful candidate will represent low-income non-custodial parents in jeopardy of incarceration for failure to pay child support and provide legal assistance to improve the financial stability and economic well-being of clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent low-income non-custodial parents in high-volume civil practice
  • Provide legal assistance to improve the financial stability and economic well-being of clients
  • Work with clients to develop strategies to pay child support and avoid incarceration
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to provide comprehensive legal services

Requirements:

  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the Rhode Island Bar
  • Experience in family law or civil rights
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
