Waste Collection Operative - AM SHIFT - £11.98 per hour

40 hours a week - Monday - Friday

Biffa Waste Services is seeking dedicated Waste Collection Operatives. The primary responsibility of this position is to efficiently remove waste and recycling materials as instructed, adhering to the contract specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the team to collect waste from assigned collection points and return containers as necessary.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by your supervisor.
  • Competently operate relevant machinery.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Possess a valid UK driving licence.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of Health and Safety protocols and adhere to safety procedures.
  • Record and report any waste not presented for collection at the designated points, ensuring all additional work and missed collections are documented.
  • Ensure that all waste is loaded safely and that any spillages are promptly addressed.
  • Assist the driver by acting as a reversing assistant to ensure safe vehicle manoeuvring.
  • Comply with legal requirements and uphold the company’s health and safety regulations and policies.
  • Maintain a respectful and courteous demeanor towards colleagues, the public, and client representatives at all times.
  • Support the company in achieving its Business Objectives and comply with all procedures in line with the ISO system.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
You will primarily be engaged in rounds to ensure all waste set out for collection is removed, while assisting residents as needed. You will work closely with your crew to accomplish this, consistently representing both Biffa and the local council positively. Health and Safety is crucial in the waste collection sector, and you will ensure that both you and your colleagues operate safely at all times.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Capability to follow health and safety guidelines.
  • Basic communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
