An exciting opportunity has arisen for a seasoned registered nurse to join our established specialist nursing teams within the realms of General Surgery and Oncology. The successful candidate will play a vital role within these specialized teams. You will receive support to enhance your skills and knowledge in these areas, as well as to gain insights into the essential skills and attributes required for the specialist nurse role.

Your responsibilities will include providing specialized nursing interventions to patients dealing with various benign and malignant conditions. This encompasses the assessment of newly diagnosed cancer patients, conducting reviews and assessments in outpatient clinics, and engaging in discussions during Specialist Multidisciplinary Team Meetings. The Colorectal Nursing team also participates in the delivery of the Scottish Bowel Screening Programme.

The successful applicant will be expected to regularly assist in the support and evaluation of patients undergoing screening for further investigations.

To qualify, you must be registered on Sub-part 1: RN1 or RNA or Sub-part 2: RN2 of the UK NMC Register. Evidence of ongoing professional development is required, along with a degree or progress towards one, and experience in a relevant specialty. Collaborative working is essential, thus strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills are crucial. You should be prepared to travel across various locations as the role may involve working at multiple sites.

Internal applicants must obtain written approval from their line manager before applying for this secondment.

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week, Fixed Term for 12 months.
