Position Overview

The role of an SRE/Infrastructure Engineer involves the strategic design, implementation, and upkeep of the cloud infrastructure that supports our platform. This position is crucial for establishing the monitoring and deployment services that empower our engineering teams to efficiently develop, deliver, and maintain platform services. Your contributions will be vital in monitoring systems and responding to incidents, ensuring optimal reliability and minimal service interruptions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Architecture and Deployment: Lead or assist in the architecture, deployment, and management of the infrastructure components essential for our applications and services. This encompasses managed cloud environments, networking, security measures, data storage solutions, and cloud-hosted services.
  • Automation and Tool Development: Create and sustain automation tools to enhance infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, deployment, and monitoring processes. Embrace infrastructure as code (IaC) methodologies utilizing tools like Terraform and Ansible.
  • Monitoring and Performance Tracking: Establish monitoring frameworks to oversee the health, performance, and availability of infrastructure elements and applications. Set up alerting systems to inform teams of potential issues, enabling proactive resolutions before user impact.
  • Incident Management and Analysis: Engage in incident management efforts to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues. Provide updates on incident status to ensure comprehensive communication with both internal and external stakeholders. Conduct thorough root cause analyses to identify underlying issues and implement strategies to prevent future occurrences.
  • Optimization of Performance and Costs: Review system performance data to pinpoint optimization opportunities. Adjust infrastructure components, refine configurations, and apply performance improvements to guarantee peak performance and resource efficiency.
  • Security and Compliance Management: Enforce security protocols and respond to security incidents following established guidelines.
  • Disaster Recovery and Continuity Planning: Design and execute disaster recovery (DR) and high availability (HA) strategies to ensure operational continuity and minimize downtime. Formulate and test DR plans, establish failover systems, and conduct regular drills to confirm preparedness.
  • Capacity Management and Scalability: Track resource utilization patterns and prepare the infrastructure for anticipated future demands.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure setups, procedures, and best practices. Foster a culture of learning and collaboration by sharing knowledge and expertise with team members through documentation, training sessions, and mentorship.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in scripting and automation using languages such as Go, Python, and Bash.
  • Experience with cloud service providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong grasp of networking principles, protocols, and security fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools and configuration management frameworks (e.g., Terraform).
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, AWS Cloudwatch) for infrastructure and application oversight.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
