It demands extensive core architecture expertise, along with a pragmatic approach to making critical design choices, weighing all trade-offs, and effectively communicating strategies and rationale to engineering teams and senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will join a team of four technical architects tasked with the ongoing architecture and enhancement of our platform. Your responsibilities will involve substantial technical architecture work across integration, application, and data model domains. Familiarity with API design, data model creation, and designing for non-functional requirements (NFRs) is essential, as is the ability to make informed architectural decisions while justifying them to various stakeholders.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about development. While our engineering team will handle implementation, a background in hands-on development is crucial, along with the capability to review and assess the code produced by others. Excellent communication skills are necessary, as the position involves direct engagement with clients, including both technical and non-technical personnel.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with GCP serverless components and their integration to create robust, high-availability solutions.
  • Extensive background in designing and documenting architectures and applications in GCP, addressing a variety of technical and non-technical constraints/NFRs/Quality Attributes.
  • Experience in making pivotal design decisions and documenting architecture decision records, considering trade-offs, and articulating these decisions to a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong proficiency in API design, documentation, and versioning, particularly with common GCP components.
  • Experience leading development teams from a design and technical ownership perspective.
  • Deep understanding of application architecture in GCP, including knowledge of suitable technologies and patterns for specific use cases.
  • Experience in estimating large-scale architectural changes, identifying key risks and dependencies, and developing a prioritized roadmap.
  • In-depth knowledge of designing applications within a containerized environment.
  • Hands-on development experience, preferably in Python, with familiarity in addressing the challenges of complex enterprise software.
  • Experience in designing software for multi-tenant environments.
  • Expertise in data model design, simplification, and standardization.
  • Experience with complex, highly-integrated architectures involving disparate and third-party systems.
  • Strong written, verbal, and diagrammatic communication skills, capable of conveying technical and abstract concepts effectively.
  • A quality-first mindset, including proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code languages (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform) and advocating for developer quality through unit testing, code reviews, and automated tooling.

Additional Skills (Preferred):

  • Familiarity with the C4 Model for Software Architecture.
  • Understanding of DevOps principles.
  • Knowledge of AI applications in relation to model capabilities and use cases.
  • Experience with headless architectures and their interaction with back-end systems.
  • Proficiency in Python, React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and Java.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with diagrams-as-code methodologies.
