Position Overview:

The role of the Driver is situated within the UNFPA Country Office, reporting directly to the International Operations Manager.

At the request of the supervisor, the Driver will also be tasked with providing transportation services to operational and program staff in the SRO, as well as to consultants, experts, and UN personnel on mission, although this will not be the primary responsibility of the position.

Internal communications will involve senior office staff and visiting officials to exchange essential information, occasionally requiring straightforward translations.

External interactions will involve coordinating various arrangements for protocol purposes and sharing fundamental information with national and international partners while executing the duties of the role. The incumbent may also collaborate with drivers from other UN agencies for significant events.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide reliable and safe driving services by a) transporting the UNFPA Director, other senior officials, and visitors, and b) managing the delivery and collection of mail, documents, and other items, including meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, arranging visa and customs formalities when necessary; Stay informed about traffic, road security, and safety protocols to ensure timely arrivals for meetings; Ensure cost-effectiveness through proper vehicle usage by maintaining accurate daily logs and contributing to vehicle maintenance plans and reports; Maintain the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arranging major repairs, regular oil changes, and checks of tires, brakes, and fluid levels, ensuring the vehicle remains clean and in optimal running condition; Ensure proper vehicle maintenance records and assist in preparing vehicle history reports; Ensure the availability of all necessary documents and supplies, including vehicle insurance, registration, logs, office directory, city/country maps, first aid kits, and essential spare parts in the vehicle; Monitor insurance and tax formalities, ensuring compliance with regulations in the event of an accident; When required, provide translation services in the local language for official personnel using the vehicle; Assist office staff with filing, photocopying, and maintaining supplies as needed. Help with mailing and distributing publications and managing office bills; Provide backup support for basic IT functions, including setting up teleconference equipment for meetings and managing assets. Assist in processing visa and tax documents and performing other protocol-related tasks for the office. Support in preparing requisitions and other ERP-related assistance within the role's scope. Carry out any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education: Completed Secondary Level Education.

Knowledge and Experience:

Valid driver's license. A minimum of three years of experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system with a proven safe driving record. Familiarity with driving regulations, chauffeur protocols, local road conditions, and defensive driving techniques. Skills in minor vehicle repairs. Basic IT knowledge is an advantage.
