Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Game Optimization Engineer to join our team at microTECH Global LTD.

This is a hybrid role, with 3 days spent onsite and 2 days working remotely per week.

The salary for this position is up to £75 per hour.

As a Senior Game Optimization Engineer, you will be responsible for:

Optimizing Popular Games and Game Engines

Developing plugins, Android Framework APIs, and demos to facilitate game development and improve performance.

Providing support to game companies with insights into implementation and optimization.

Conducting research to improve the performance and quality of games.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Optimize commercial game engine performance using Unity, Unreal, and other popular game engines.
  2. Develop and maintain plugins, Android Framework APIs, and demos to enhance game development and performance.
  3. Collaborate with game companies to provide expert advice on implementation and optimization.
  4. Conduct research to identify areas for improvement in game performance and quality.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Natural Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Expertise in commercial game engine optimizations, including Unity and Unreal.
  3. Solid knowledge of modern C++ programming language.
  4. Understanding of assembly and how C++ code maps to it.
  5. Experience with Android development, including Perfetto, ADB, and Gradle.
  6. Extensive experience in performance and memory optimization, with proficiency in profiling tools.
  7. Solid understanding of SIMD, cache coherency, branch prediction, Data Oriented Design, and multithreading.
  8. Ability and desire to travel regularly to support game companies worldwide.

Desirable Skills

  1. Familiarity with Java and C# programming languages.
  2. Experience in game development, particularly with multiplayer games.
  3. Knowledge of Arm 64-bit architecture.
  4. Familiarity with Graphics APIs.
