Job Title: Near Surface Geophysicist

Risk Management and Quality Assurance (RSK) Group is seeking a skilled Near Surface Geophysicist to join their team in Helsby. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers a rewarding and challenging career with opportunities for Continuous Professional Development.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work within the experienced Geosciences team under the guidance of the Principal Geophysicist and Team Leader. Key responsibilities include preparation for and undertaking site work using various geophysical techniques, data processing, interpretation, and report production. Additionally, the candidate will mentor and/or line manage junior members of the team, manage ongoing projects, and liaise with clients as required.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct site work using geophysical techniques such as GPR, ERT, Seismic Refraction, MASW, Microgravity, Magnetics, and Electromagnetic instrumentation.
  • Process and interpret data for the above techniques.
  • Mentor and/or line manage junior team members.
  • Manage ongoing projects and liaise with clients as required.
  • Prepare proposals and reports.
Requirements:
  • Near Surface Geophysicist with 2-3 years' experience.
  • Competent in use of GPR, ERT, Seismic Refraction, MASW, Microgravity, Magnetics, and Electromagnetic instrumentation.
  • Experienced in processing data for the above techniques.
  • Competent user of High Precision GPS, Total Stations.
  • Competent user of 2D AutoCAD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills including Excel, CAD, and some programming would be an advantage.
  • Must hold a UK driving license.
  • Must be prepared to travel and stay away from home when required.
