Consultant Physician

Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Consultant to join its Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) service within the Department of Respiratory Medicine. The ILD service is a part of the Thoracic Directorate and the post-holder will work as part of the team of Chest Physicians within Thoracic Services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with recruiting patients to clinical trials, tissue banking, and research methodology. They will also be encouraged to submit work and attend national and international meetings in Thoracic Medicine.
The post holder will participate in the consultant of the week rota, covering referrals, phoneline queries, and caring for ILD inpatients. They will also share responsibility for the training of specialty trainees, clinical fellows, and medical students in conjunction with consultant colleagues, ensuring that College and local requirements are met.

Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate will have a MBBS or equivalent qualification, completion of Certificate of Training (CCT) or equivalent in Respiratory Medicine, significant demonstrable clinical experience in ILD, and a Higher Degree (e.g. MD or PhD). They will also have the capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement and prioritise clinical need.
