Their office in Stoke-on-Trent is integral to the Planning team, and they are in search of a Principal Planning Consultant to lend their expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and evaluating proposals for development projects, including the formulation of planning strategies;
- Conducting pre-application consultations, and preparing planning submissions and appeals;
- Performing site evaluations;
- Engaging with community stakeholders;
- Managing planning projects;
- Coordinating various technical teams;
- Preparing proposals and participating in business development initiatives;
- Collaborating with landowners, developers, and architects;
- Providing strategic advice on planning and land use to a diverse clientele, including leading house builders, developers, land promoters, investment institutions, utility and infrastructure firms, waste management companies, and local planning authorities throughout all phases of the planning process;
- Supervising and mentoring team members.
Qualifications:
- Chartered Town Planner with a relevant degree in Town Planning or a related field;
- Experience in preparing planning applications for both public and private sectors;
- Exceptional analytical and written communication skills;
- Strong collaborative team player;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and ideally some GIS software;
- Excellent organizational and planning abilities;
- A valid driving license is essential as the role involves travel across the UK.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate a high level of technical proficiency and quality of work, performed with minimal oversight, alongside strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, and writing skills. The role necessitates managing multiple projects, so a proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines, as well as effective problem-solving skills, is crucial. The position will involve providing guidance and support to other team members. While the primary focus is on filling the Principal level position, consideration for an Associate Director role will depend on demonstrated experience, market credibility, and a proven track record of securing new business and nurturing existing client relationships.
