Mechanical Maintenance Specialist

Role Overview:
As an essential member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient functioning of our infrastructure operations. Under the guidance of the Shift Supervisor, you will oversee mechanical systems, perform maintenance and repairs, and maintain accurate documentation. Your responsibilities will include interpreting technical schematics, diagnosing issues, and executing various maintenance activities. You will operate vehicles, adhere to Health & Safety regulations, and ensure equipment is always ready for use. Additionally, you will respond promptly to incidents and embody the values of Connect Plus Services while promoting a culture of Zero Harm. This position requires a skilled and versatile Mechanical Maintenance Specialist dedicated to preserving vital infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Familiarize yourself with the operation of all mechanical equipment within our infrastructure, both under normal and emergency conditions, and be capable of managing systems through local or remote control.
- Execute Planned Maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of mechanical apparatus, including pumps, fans, and piping systems.
- Complete necessary documentation, including daily logs and maintenance reports.
- Interpret schematics and conduct troubleshooting and repairs independently.
- Perform all types of Civil and Mechanical Maintenance work within the scope of a Mechanical Technician, with or without direct oversight.
- Undertake any manual, semi-skilled, or skilled tasks of any trade description as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Operate various vehicles as needed, including those designated for maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety standards and adopt safe working practices at all times.
- Maintain vehicles, equipment, and machinery to ensure they are safe and operational.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintain driver logs in accordance with company protocols.
- Respond to incidents and work safely in line with policies to facilitate the swift resolution of hazards.
- Perform any additional duties within the capacity of a Maintenance Technician as requested by Line Managers.
- Uphold the values of Connect Plus Services.

- Support the implementation of Connect Plus Services Sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications/ Skills/ Experience:
- Recognized Mechanical Qualification or Apprenticeship.
- Card holder (or willing to undertake training) in:
- CSCS Safety Card.
- MEWPS (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms).
- Comfort in working within confined spaces.
- Experience in routine maintenance and repairs of various equipment, including pumps and fans.
- Practical experience in maintenance or servicing of mechanical equipment.
- Proficient in problem-solving and troubleshooting using maintenance manuals and schematics.
- Comprehensive experience in welding, plumbing, and manufacturing using workshop machinery.
- Knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations.
- G39 certification for working near DNO equipment.
