Are you a highly skilled Scientist looking for a challenging role in a dynamic environment? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team at Reed Talent Solutions as a Scientist.
As a Scientist, you will be responsible for conducting research, evaluating data, and developing materials for use in submarines. You will work closely with industry specialists to ensure that all materials meet the highest standards of safety and quality.
This is a unique role that will allow you to work at the forefront of engineering, science, and technology to solve complex technical challenges. You will have the opportunity to link with fellow minds and allies across the world to protect submariner health and contribute to the success of our projects.
In this role, you will:
- Support SME safety advice on biocidal products relating to occupational hygiene and toxicology
- Support in-service and build programmes to establish safe systems of work through chemical data reviews
- Support high-priority assessments to meet build timescales, coordinate materials assurance efforts across the enterprise, perform and evaluate toxicology assessments, and develop material safety policy
- Ensure materials comply with relevant legislation and MOD policy for Naval Authority certification
- Support the derivation of safety limits to support submarine atmosphere control
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- Working towards or currently registered with the British Occupational Hygiene Society with a certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene (CertOccHyg or ICertOccHyg) or relevant discipline/professional body
- Relevant level 4 (or higher) qualification or equivalent experience
- Significant depth of scientific experience in specialist area
In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competences and behaviours will be assessed at interview:
